Endodontics San Rafael, CA
Endodontic root canal treatment and retreatment.
In the past, problematic teeth were often simply pulled. But with proper care, your teeth can last you a lifetime. In the event that your tooth is infected or injured, you may be able to save it with endodontics, such as a root canal. At North Bay Dental, we routinely perform root canals for pain relief of infected or injured teeth. During your initial consultation, we will discuss the potential of success in your particular situation so the best course of treatment is chosen.
What is endodontics?
Each tooth in your mouth sits in bone and is surrounded by gum tissue. Approximately two-thirds of each tooth (the root portion) is in jaw bone. Inside every tooth is a canal or canals (usually depending on the number of roots the tooth has). Each canal has a vein, artery and nerve in it. Collectively they are referred to as the pulp. Sometimes, because of trauma like decay or a large filling, the pulp becomes irritated and can get infected. In this case, root canal (a.k.a. endodontic treatment) is necessary in order to save the tooth.
Our endodontic services include:
- Relive a painful or infected tooth with a root canal.
- Infections are drained and treated with an abscess removal.
- Deep stains in treated teeth can be lightened with internal bleaching.
