Rupi Buttar, DDS
San Rafael dentist Dr. Rupi Buttar is a general dentist and has been practicing dentistry since 2008 in the Bay Area. After receiving her dental degree (DDS) from the UCSF School of Dentistry Dr. Buttar went into community dentistry.
Dr. Buttar worked side by side for almost 2 years in a community clinic and pediatric dental practice where she gained first-hand experience serving the underserved community and experienced the power of compassion and limited resources to make dentistry work. During this time, Dr. Buttar cultivated her love and compassion of working with children and learned limited Spanish. She is a strong believer in prevention of dental problems like tooth decay and gum disease with patient education and communication.
To employ her academic skills, Dr. Buttar joined the UCSF School of Dentistry in 2010 as a full time faculty member. She served as a Course Director for International Dental Program students for 4 consecutive years, Lecturer, Clinical Coach, Instructor and mentor for domestic as well as International dental students. While at UCSF, she provided valuable input to the interview and selection process of dental school candidates and new faculty. Dr. Buttar taught at UCSF for 7 years.
Dr. Buttar is an active member of the American Dental Association (ADA), California Dental Association (CDA), Marin County Dental Society (MCDS), and a volunteer with the Gerstle Park Neighborhood Association. Dr. Buttar regularly attends workshops and continuing education courses about the latest dental techniques.
Maria B. Rodriguez, DDS
Dr. Maria B. Rodriguez was born and raised in Venezuela, where she received her General Dentist degree in 2006 from the prestigious Central University of Venezuela. After practicing for 2 years, her passion for learning and desire to specialize propelled Dr. Rodriguez to start a 3-year orthodontics residency, accomplishing her Masters degree in 2011 with honorable mention from the Central University of Venezuela. She practiced dentistry and orthodontics for 5 years, mainly in private practice, and also worked part time as an ad honorem faculty at the Oral Radiology Department of her dental school.
Dr. Rodriguez moved to the United States and went to UCSF School of Dentistry for 2 years and obtained her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree in 2016.
Dr Rodriguez speaks Spanish and English, loves to work with kids and adults. She puts all her effort to create a peaceful environment where patients feel comfortable and relaxed, providing patient centered care focused on prevention.
Dr. Rodriguez is an active member of the American Dental Association (ADA), California Dental Association (CDA), San Francisco Dental Society (SFDS) and the UCSF School of Dentistry’s Rho Rho Chapter of the Omicron Kappa Upsilon (OKU) Dental Honor Society.
The Phan, MD, DDS
Dr. Phan is an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon. He attended the University of California at Berkeley for his undergraduate studies and continued his education at the New York University College of Dentistry, where he received his D.D.S. degree and graduated in the top of his class. He earned numerous awards for clinical and academic excellence, and was inducted into the National Dental Honor Society.
Pursuing his interest in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Dr. Phan completed a six-year training program in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Long Island Jewish Medical Center in New York. He has received awards for academic research and is published in the Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Dr. Phan also received his M.D. degree from the Stony Brook University School of Medicine and completed a one-year internship in general surgery at Stony Brook University Hospital in New York.
As a highly trained Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon, Dr. Phan specializes in Pathology, Bone Grafting, Dentoalveolar Surgery, Dental Implants, and Outpatient Anesthesia.
In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family.

Amanda has been in the dental field since 2007. She is originally from San Rafael and completed her RDA program from College of Marin. Her favorite aspect of dentistry is helping patients feel comfortable and educating them on how to maintain good oral health.
Her cheerful disposition and commitment to dental field are evident in her interactions with patients and staff. Outside of dental office, Amanda enjoys spending time with her family and pets.
